Shibden Hall

Dating as far back as 1420, Shibden Hall is open to visitors wishing to explore the lives of the people that once lived and worked here, most famously, diarist Anne Lister. In addition to the vast, reestablished gardens, interesting and varied architecture, Shibden Hall is also home to a 17th-century barn that houses a carriage collection with additional workshop-related displays from the likes of blacksmiths, coopers, saddlers, and wheelwrights.

Shidben Trains Miniature Railway

Shibden Land Train

Located in Shibden Park, the Land Train is a heritage vehicle purpose built during the park's restoration project to provide the public with a fun and intesting way to explore the park and take in the sights and wildlife.

 

Open on weekends, school holidays, and bank holidays, the Land Train is one of Shibden’s attractions that’s fun for all ages.

Gentleman Jack

The popular BBC and HBO period drama, written by Sally Wainwright, depicts the life of the ‘first modern Lesbian’, Anne Lister, played by Suranne Jones, and the lives of people who lived and worked at Shibden Hall and the estate.

Landowner, businesswoman, diarist, mountaineer, traveller, and lesbian, Anne Lister was a truly remarkable woman. Gentleman Jack series two is soon to be aired on BBC.

Miniature Railway

Departing from the picnic area towards the bottom of Shibden Park, the Miniature Railway operates a circular line that includes a bridge, a diamond crossing before finishing with a tunnel.
